Anna Wintour was once quoted as saying the one thing she would never wear is all black. Wintour’s words of wisdom aside, making a statement in black is a great way to elevate on otherwise basic look especially when crunched for time. This year is all about pushing color, texture, and silhouettes to the limit—even when heading to Sunday morning brunch.

Coat: Rag & Bone (similar here and here) | Sweater: Equipment (also available here) | Jeans: J Brand | Shoes: Christian Louboutin | Bag: Givenchy | Earrings: Nordstrom

I recently read this post on Margo & Me, in which Jenny Cipoletti poignantly describes the difference in style of Los Angelenos and New Yorkers. Overall, my style identifies more towards that of east coasters––subtle, neutral, and classic. That being said, many fashionistas tend to dress like New Yorkers in the fall and winter, and west coast boho babes in the spring and summer. Geography aside, the most coveted items in my closet are classics that are sure to stand the test of time.

Among the crème de la crème, are my patent leather Christian Louboutin pumps. They were my very first splurge years ago, and a classic that I’m confident will hold residence in my closet for years to come. Recently, I added the Givenchy ‘Antigona’ bag to my collection after ogling it for the better part of the past decade. As I get older (argh!) and my style becomes more defined, there are certain classics like this camel coat and cashmere knits that I reach for whether I’m heading to the office or to Sunday brunch. While fashion is (thankfully) constantly changing, it’s nice to count on coveted essentials season after season—or in some cases—decade after decade.

Top: Pixie Market (also love this version and this similar version) | Jeans: Levi’s (also here)| Shoes: Manolo Blahnik | Earrings: Nordstrom (sold out; similar)

As showcased throughout Fall ’18 NYFW this past week, collections and trends are no longer dictated by season. Although donning a pastel coat along New York’s slushy winter streets isn’t the most practical, it certainly brightens an otherwise gray day. Said trends also make for great transitional pieces, which is what I love most about this crisp, feminine top. Not to mention the eyelet details, romantic neckline, and delicate victorian buttons. I’m also loving “girlfriend” denim, which keeps this season’s feminine, statement tops from being a little too over-the-top for everyday wear. What trends are you most looking forward to for spring?

There’s no profound way to say “I’m so over winter.” At this point, only a fab faux-fur leopard coat and Givenchy will get me out of hibernation. Given the well below freezing temperatures, these jeans have been on repeat lately. I’ve always been really particular about jeans, specifically in finding the right fit, fabrication, and wash. This high-waisted pair from J Brand has just enough stretch (you typically want to look for no more than 2-8% spandex in the fabric content), without becoming overly stretched out in the waist and knees after a few wears. Not to mention the rich black wash is a versatile wardrobe essential, capable of toning down even the brightest hues and most wild prints.

Sweet Little Treats

Sweet Little Things

Double Trouble Gang T-Shirt | Ladurée Macarons | Diptyque candle | Valentino Book | Jo Malone Bath Oil |Rose Gold Earrings | Chanel Perfume |  TOME sweater

Although I’ve never been one to obsess over having a date or a romantic evening planned for Valentine’s Day, there’s something about embellished cards, pink roses, and heart shaped candies that brighten spirits amidst a season of cold and gray. If you’ve managed to make it through a frugal, sugar-free, dry January, what better way to ditch your New Year’s resolutions than treating yourself to macarons, eau so fresh candles, and pastel hued sweaters. After all, tis the season for all things sweet and pink.

Denim Jacket: (old, similar here and here) | Sweater: Rag & Bone (similar here and here) | Jeans: J Brand | Earrings: J. Crew (sold out, similar) | Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Long gone are days of trends coming and going…for good. Denim of decades past have resurfaced in recent years, but nothing compares to this season’s redux. Between Levi’s classic wedgie icon (I just bought this pair) and shredded cropped hems, denim is getting a major facelift for spring. Not to be forgotten are denim jackets, now adorned with embellishment, embroidery, and shearling trim. This jacket (pictured) in particular is actually from the 90s—resurrected from my mom’s closet for spring. Although most of us still face a few more weeks of sub-zero temps, this retro classic will be the perfect layering piece for seasons to come.

Many aspects of my life, including the creation and content of this blog, wouldn’t be possible without the support of my family and friends. With the holidays seemingly further behind us and Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, this month is a rosy reminder to show appreciation for those you love.

Along with chocolate hearts and candy, February brings about early signs of spring, the launch of ready-to-wear collections for fall, all the while arming your closet with refreshing pieces for the highly anticipated warmer months ahead. Stand is one of my favorite up-and-coming labels and their spring collection is stacked with blush and poppy red hues. As I mentioned here, pink and red are the power duo du jour, not to mention utterly chic and feminine for the flirtatious month ahead.
